Religion became a potent instrument Europeans used to win the hearts of Africans, as they established churches and schools, wherever they went. Thus, many Africans, including Nigerians, became educated and knowledgeable in the ways of the Christian God. Ironically, Christianity appears to be fading away in Europe, as religion is completely relegated to the background and churches over there are mainly patronised by African residents.
