The scars of sin
SIN BRINGS SCAR
Sin is a very dangerous poising that affects body spirits and soul. Sin may be forgiven by God but sometimes leaves some scars behind especially when it was intentionally committed by the children of God. Let us study A case of King David
2 Samuel 11:1-5 (KJV) And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house. And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.
David out of covetousness slept with wife of one of his very loyal soldiers. He knew the gravity of his offence as a servant of God but flesh and lusts of eyes pushed him to commit abomination. One thing about sin is that once it is committed, you will want to commit another sin to cover it like lies and keeping secrets etc. In the case of David he ended committing murder by killing Uriah the legal husband of the woman. 2 Samuel 11:14-15 (KJV) And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah. And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.
No matter how you try to cover any secret nothing is hidden from God. One thing we should know from this is that God will forgive when repented from the evil act but some scars left behind may be detrimental. Let’s look at what happens to David
1 unexplained calamities. One of the consequences of sin is unexplained calamities and problems in the life of children of God. Everyone will be looking at such fellow with high esteem but within him he’s dying. 2 Samuel 12:9-13 (KJV) Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
Davids sin was put away and he did not die but sword( war, calamity) never departed from his house. Evil started happening in his house as Amnon his son raped Tama his younger sister and Absalom killed him (2 Samuel 13). As if that was not enough Absalom chased out David from his throne by declaring himself a king. ( 2 Samuel15).
2 shame and regrets. Imaging how stupid and shameful some men of God caught in camera having sex with another woman will look in the presence of their spiritual children and families
The scar of sin of some people maybe inform of barrenness due to serial abortions , asexually transmitted diseases like HIV or lost of loved ones and properties that can not be reversed. It is dangerous to toil with sin: Shall we remain in sin that grace may abound God forbid ( Romans 6:2)
